Changed the throttle position sensor on my Volvo T5 - 2001 ex police V70 - ETM body. The carbon track an brush system has been upgraded some years ago to contactless magnetic sensing. Changing just this part saved me £400 and no need to remap the ECU. Result = smooth idle, smooth acceleration, correct gear change at the right RPM, resolved some mid range vibration also as the dead spots were causing the ETM butterfly to shimmy. This fault is easily overlooked and needs sorting as a matter of course particularly if you've a Volvo of this type or mileage. Hope this helps some one.

Howdifficult was this to do.it looks like there is a sensor on each side of the throttle body.how do you know which one to replace.Im getting the engine system service required message.I had it scanned and its says throttle position sensor.does this mean that is the issue.Car still runs perfect and the messagecomes and goes. Was gonna repalce the whole throttle body but i dont want to just throw money away.It has the white label on the body.
