Thumbs up Finally a way to turn off headlight warning when using hid

after a lot of research and just before I purchased a set of capacitors for my 2001 v70 t5 I found a way that turns off the warning -- dipped beam failure -- for no cost. I did what the link says and it worked perfectly. My only thing was not being sure what a 2mm drill bit since my set do not have sizes I just started small and worked my way up and it went from on solidly to flashing to off with each larger size.the kit I bought was not from this retailer so it works for all after market hid sets

I'm curious. I would like to retro fit xenon bulbs in my 2003 V70 but was led to believe you have to have the proper headlight lens to do this. Otherwise, you risk blinding oncoming drivers.

Did you find HID lenses for your 2001 V70?

Thanks

Bob
PS: thanks for the tip on the warning lamp

RJSV70, you're absolutely correct. HID "conversions" that mount HID bulbs in halogen headlights are horrible. They put LESS light down the road where you need it than your old bulbs did, but they blind everyone coming the other direction. In short, they're for posers and morons (can't really sugar-coat it better than that).

Of course, a PROJECTOR HID headlight is about the best thing since sliced bread - the ones (factory) on my BMW have a light pattern that looks like it was cut out with a razor, and puts a lot LESS light into the eyes of oncoming drivers than even normal halogen lights.

Instead of the drill-a-hole-in-the-resistor trick, you could also switch the cable on the back to the other pin on the resistor. No drilling and same result.

Yeah, I'd go with the Volvo OEM HID projector in my car if I were to swap to HID.
