Hello,

I need the help of the experts here as in all the years and various cars I owned and worked on I NEVER had this happen before.

2002 Volvo V70 Station Wagon. NON turbo.

Everything was fine. Parked the car to pick up something, I turned off the ignition while the gear is in D, key would not come out. Realized my mistake, put the gear in Park, took the key out.

Started the car with no problems but the steering wheel is LOCKED in place, will NOT move. Wiggled the key, played with the gear, moved the car back and forth many times and the steering wheel is frozen in place.

Removed the plastic covering, tapped on the metal thing under the steering with a hammer, nothing.

Had to finally leave the car and take the light rail home.

It is a nice area but the people who live there don't seem to want anyone to park on the public street, so I need to figure this out and move the car before they have me towed.

NEED help please.

I watched the videos on you tube, they are Generic and don't work or apply.

The engine starts and the key moves and comes out of the switch but the steering wheel is locked.

Please if you have photos or diagrams on what to do and how to fix this I would appreciate it.
