Arrow New Kid on The Block

Hello all, I am new to the forum and like everyone else thought I would introduce myself. I just bought as of yesterday a 2002 V70 2.4T with 122,xxx miles on it. The car has been in the same family since the day it rolled off the lot and came with a full service history done at the dealer. This being said it does have a few issues. The front seat bottoms were redone a year back and this has caused the airbag light to come on. Normally I would not worry about this but a couple weeks ago I totaled my beloved E36 BMW and now am an old man and believe in safety. (think the Volvo just might have a few features) How do I go about fixing this? Obviously the best course of action is to take the seat apart and inspect it but understandably a resolution is desired before I rip the seats apart. Another issue is from time to time the information center on the dash claims that the alarm system requires attention, what causes this? I know it can be a number things but i'm an ignorant newbie.
Anyhow, any help will be appreciated. I have always been an active member on my Alfa Romeo forums and Bimmer forums so I look forward to being active on Volvo forums. Thanks in advance.

My guess would be that they disconnected the seat without first disconnecting the battery. This will usually trigger the light. It should only need to be read and reset.

Not sure about the alarm issue.

The alarm service message is most likely the alarm siren which sits in the wheel arch. Mine has gone on my car. So I have the message flash up every time I get in the car. They are pretty easy to source but are expensive. I just put up with the message in my car as all my locking etc is working fine.

Welcome to the best car forum online. Yes the SRS needs to be reset, and the the alarm siren has failed, mine too. They are mounted in the passenger inner fender well with a tamper proof screw that the head breaks off at installation.
