new kid on the block
Howdy all, I'm new to the whole forum thing, but not new to working on cars (I've been a mechanic pretty much since I could hold a wrench). I am completely new to Volvos though, never sat in or driven another, but my first impressions of mine were WOW. The engine is clean, relatively uncomplicated, looks easy to work on, and once I got it running, ohmygodPOWERFUL. I sure look forward to learning how to work out all the kinks (since it's almost 20 years old) and everything else I can about my car.
Anyhoo, the backstory;
Today I purchased a red 1991 740 turbo as my very first car. It was not operational at time of purchase, but I was aware of the cause, and i came prepared with a replacement in-line fuel pump and a fresh battery. One tow home, hour of wrenchwork, and oil change later (the very same day), it fires up and drives pretty well. Next up is to drain the old barely-burnable gasoline from the fuel system and let the engine computer re-learn the engine.
Wish me Luck
Also, here's my post detailing my immediate concerns: https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-240-740-940-12/i-just-bought-1991-740-turbo-40507/
