Default New to the Volvo world

I just bought a 2004 V70 with the 2.4L non turbo engine and a manual transmission.

I am new to the Volvo word, I have been mostly in to BMWs before and still have a 1999 528i touring.
Is there any software available to read codes and change options? Something along the lines if VCDS for VWs or INPA for BMWs.

Also has anyone done a upgrade to the factory radio? Not looking for a "system" but just a improvement with bluetooth and android car play. The current radio has a volume **** that doesn't work all the time.

Also, also, any common problems I should be looking out for?

Thanks in advance.

Software - Yes it's called VIDA - You can find a free download of VIDA 2014d many places on the internet. That's the last version available on dvd that was stolen and hacked to be able to use without a subscription. You will need a DICE unit to be able to converse with your car. I paid ~$85 for a clone DICE a few years ago. I would highly recommend a VIDA installation if you are going to attempt to repair your own car. OR you can purchase and use a VIDA subscription from Volvo. Info at Volvotechinfo.com

Radio - for what you want you will have to go aftermarket. Personally I don't like that solution due to the aesthetics of the installations (most "just don't look right") - but each to his own. Volume **** - does the steering wheel control still work for volume? Used tuners may or may not work - many options, but yours is coded to your VIN number and others may not work.

Others may have ideas on making a factory tuner do what you want - I've used imiv.ca solutions in the past - but most of that stuff may not be available any longer.
