Outside temp guage and strange door issues
Car: 2001 V70 with about 130,000 miles
Bought the car about a year ago and it's been mostly nice except for having two coils fail. However, yesterday something really strange happened.
Got into the car to go to work and I notice that the outside temp guage was just showing "---". Thought maybe that will go away when I restart the car. Went to the gym and stopped for coffee but that temp gauge kept saying "---".
So I went online to do a little reading and read about sensors in mirrors and CAN and wiring harnesses. All of which sounded like either a pain in the butt or big bucks.
After work, I started my car and still had "---" it was also a nice day so I went to roll down the windows and found that the passenger window didn't work. Neither did the power lock on the right side. Interesting. Maybe the problems are related.
I looked at the fuse listing and saw that there is a "right door module" fuse (No. 36) so I pulled it to check it. It wasn't blown. Humph!
So I drove home. After I got home and just for grins and with very little scientific thought, I reached over to the passenger door and pushed the window button. Nothing happened.
When I sat back up I noticed that the outside temperature gauge was NOW DISPLAYING "68". The window worked and the door lock did too.
Anyone have an idea of what is going on? Should I be looking into a problem of has my car healed itself?

Not sure about your model/year but some of the Volvos actually have a circuit breaker for the power windows (along with the fuse). Dunno if pulling the fuse reset the breaker or what. you can read up on the wiring via Volvo Wiring Diagrams to see what your model has.
