Default power acceleration problems

I have a 2002 V70s auto. It is everything I want and expect.. but.. It runs fine on the the flat up to around 67mph.. however if I try to accelerate above this by applying the throttle it.. well.. kind of kangaroos. Like one second it wants to go but next second like something pulls it back. It does the same when pulling uphill. Crusing along just under 70 is fine but slows down when entering an incline. If I apply throttle to keep the speed up going up the hill it kangaroos and drops down the gears.. up to 4500rpm but will not go any faster. Wounded to be honest Has anyone had this problem or knows what it is
