Bought a project vintage camper with the intention of pulling it with my 2004 V70 2.4. Four years ago this car pulled a loaded UHaul quite a distance, beautifully. That U Haul empty weighed more than the camper will loaded. I had a 6 hour drive pulling the camper home and while we started off hitched up nice and level, it didn't stay that way. By the time I got home I was dragging chain and poor Velvet (2004 V70 non turbo) was sitting pretty low in back.
New shocks and springs are in order. I'm thinking heavy duty would be a good idea. We did the front 2 years ago. My budget is limited and the install will be me and my retired mechanic sweetie, out in a field. I live in a very rural area but travel when possible to the city, so general driving it balanced between the two. I plan to drive the car and camper to visit Montreal when things open up, I'm not planning just little weekend jaunts.
Asking for input on what are the best, most cost effective options.
