On our V70 we have an intermittent problem. When the car is put in reverse the steering wheel will lock and not turn. The computer has been cleared last week. Can anyone help me idthe possible problem?

When it locks in reverse how do you get it to unlock?

Could you supply more detail? You start the vehicle in Park and is the steering free to turn and then locks when you shift to Reverse? I think in normal operation the steering wheel lock is disengaged when the igniton switch is turned to Position I (or is it Position II?)--but without the engine even being started.

This sounds like a very serious condition. For one thing if the steering wheel can lock in reverse, one wonders if it could progress to locking in drive.
