Need Help: Replace 850 Steering wheel with S60 or other
Hello, my family has had volvo's since time began, though I am on my first. It is a glorious 850 non-turbo, red with spoiler and 5 spoke alloys. Unfortunately, the steering wheel has worn severely and has no hope. I would like to replace it with some form of sporty steering wheel, ideally an s60 wheel. The main concern is that I would like to still have the airbag function properly (do not care about the buttons). Is this possible? What would I need to do this? Are they interchangeable? Do I need to reprogram the airbag? Thank you so much for your help!
What year is your 850. That would determine a lot. If it's a late model, it should bolt up fine. However, the air bag connection might be different. I have also been contemplating a swap. It seems 960's and such are interchangeable. As well as other models up to 2000. After that it seems the changed connectors. So it is quite possible a 2000 S60 could work with no problems. You'd really have to compare the 2 connectors. Sorry I'm not more help, but If I swap mine soon I'll update for you. Please do the same if you beat me to it. As far as what's involved you need to remove the air bag and than the wheel. Obviously with the battery disconnected.
