Exclamation Transmission/gearbox issue

Hello all, having some curious issues in my 2002 V70 2.4T. Firstly I flushed tranny fluid last summer (around 160k miles), DIY power flush as seen on Youtube, 4-5 times I flushed 1 qts through. Definitely needed a change. Replaced the fluid with Toyota Type IV Atf as I found from research it is essentially the same as Mobil or Volvo but cheaper. More recently I've been having hard garage shifts from any position into D when the car is cold (even if it sits for 30min. in colder temps). There is a delay then a hard clunk/lurch into gear. Recently replaced the top engine mount and trans. torque mount (no difference). If I shift the car into neutral, rev once 2-500 rpms, then shift into D there's no hesitation or clunk. I've also noticed some harder shift changes 2-3 I think. No issues downshifting. Tranny fluid checked hot with engine idling reads fine, possibly a 1/8L low but I didn't think that was enough to cause these issues. Could it be a very specific amount needed for the fluid or possible that the transmission is on its way out? Any advice/experience helps, this forum has been great to me. Thanks all & merry Christmas!

Not likely a fluid level issue, but what brand/type of fluid did you use. The Aisin trans' are finicky about their fluid, though if you used something totally wrong you probably would crying a lot harder.

Toyota type IV. From what I've read/researched it's essentially the same 3309 fluid as offered by Mobil. I'm considering a Drain and fill with the Mobil 3309. Or contacting Volvo dealer about a software update

Toyota's also use the Aisin transmission - but there's no reason for them to say our type T-IV fluid also meets 3309 specs. Lots of posts offering various opinions on what and why but I'm on the side that says its the same stuff. With that said, your car isn't performing up to code so I'd second burtongoods comments about considering a new drain and fill and checking with the dealer about software updates. You can find 3309 spec'd fluid from the usual Volvo aftermarket parts places like IPD, FCPEURO etc...

You need new shift solenoids. You can run 10,000 quarts of fluid through that thing and it will not help. PM me for more information.
