Just got back from a long trip to france nursing an engine oil leak from behind the clutch to find that some parts of the engine obviously weren't getting oil, so lots of nasty noises.
Looks like a new engine.
Same old story... just spent £700 on the timing belt and new front lower suspensions arms, bushes, etc, engine mount. last year had the gearbox done and clutch.

Soooo... as I love this car and it drove like new until it left a map of OPEC across france. is it worth getting a recon engine and most importantly, can anyone recommend a reputable outfit that doesn't charge more than the car is worth (54 plate D5 se with 200,000mls) fully loaded.

Did I mention that I love this car and can't find a worthy replacement below £7k?
