This is a new project for me, this neglected V70 T5/ 170K needs a lot of TLC. The previous owner (---) must have thought an oil change was too much doe (black real black) Maybe it was the stone guard that had them thinking "this car does'nt ever need an oil change"I have not seen oil this bad in any vehicle I've owned. Well I figured out it did indeed need an oil change. On to the more important question on the transmission.
Apparently Volvo is not worried about ATF fluid level in the tranny. I felt like an idiot, what was i thinking, a dipstick? Can anyone advise me on the how's and when's of this transmission. Thanks HELP

 

Found the dipstick up front right and under a tranny coolant hose. Need help from anyone who has tackled the fluid change and filter change in this tranny. HELP!

Thank you ed, I am finding my way around the forum site better now. Started the V-70 yesterday after a lot of repairs, runs good but have cooling fan concerns now. Found some help in the 'stickies'
