Default What is the total fluid capacity of my radiator?

2005 V70 2.4L (non-turbo)

The owner's manual gives capacities for other systems, but not for the radiator. The parts guy at Volvo told me 2 gallons, but I only got 1 gallon out when I drained. Fill cap was off. I then filled with distilled water and ran the engine for 15 minutes and drained. Again, 1 gallon.

Anway, not terribly important that I get every drop out, but I was just curious what I should have expected to get.

Thanks.

Well, I hope you added coolant as well. The system likely holds 2 gallons, since that's what the Volvo tech told you. You can't drain all of the fluid out unless you drain the block and radiator, then you'll only get 80%.

Don't laugh, but I paid for the Volvo brand anti-freeze. I know, I know...

Man, I'm not laughing. If I could afford it, I would to.
