2008 XC70 Oil use
Hello. My 2008 XC70 has 134,000 miles on it. The car is in very good condition and appears to run very well, however, it uses around half a quart of engine oil for each 1,000 - 1,200, or so, miles. Does this seem like normal consumption, or is it too high? I don't see any obvious reason for the oil use, such as any sign of a leak or blue-smoke exhaust. I use synthetic oil now but had noticed this oil use while still using mineral oil, and consumption seems to be the same using either. The car is the 3.2 non-turbo 6-cylinder model.
Thanks for any help.

I have the same car, it spun a bearing at about 70000 miles, volvo put a new short block in and all was well for 2-3000 miles then the low oil light came on. Long story short new engine complete under warranty CPO and extended warranty due to new short block before CPO ran out. They maintain 1/2 quart per so many miles but I don't remember the spec.
They figured cylinder #6 by the spark plug coloration. 1/2 quart per 1000 miles you would show low oil light by 3-4000 miles that is too much.

One thing I forgot, the PVC system has a large black box (part # 31319642 oil trap) on the back of the engine under the cover shield. They took it off and it had a cracked rubber diaphragm that pulled oil into the engine and burned it. You may want to have that checked before any other thing. They replace it but the engine still used oil after but the diaphragm was split.
