I'm second owner of a 2012 xc70 with 3.2 liter 6cylinder, it is a bas model so doesn;t have the info maintenance minder, but recently have the engine light on- can somebody tell
me the causes for that warning light ? I have 194k miles on it ...

 

The check engine light is on because there is a self diagnostic trouble code stored usually in the Engine control unit. Your first step would be to scan the car with a compatible scanner and find out what codes are stored. If multiple codes are stored, make note of them, erase them, drive the car, and rescan to see which ones come back. Then develop a rational plan to investigate what is causing codes to appear.
