Default Cam and Crank Oil Seals - Oil Leaks

Hi All
2006 XC70 with 210K miles. Car seems solid and has been well serviced except I am experiencing bad oil leaks. My long term European (well trusted) mechanic washed the engine and used dye in the oil. Oil is definitely leaking from the cam seals (mostly rear/exhaust cam) and crank seal. He is >80% certain renewing those would resolve the leaks. Cost, $1,860.

My only concern is when I get under the car to inspect, not only is there oil on the bottom right of the engine (i.e. oil pan) as expected but, the bottom left side of the engine is also entirely coated with oil (i.e. transmission bell housing). Is that possible if oil is only leaking from cam/crank seals? It seems like a long way for the oil to travel. Or, should I be concerned about other leaks elsewhere? I don't want to spend $1,860 only to realize that wasn't the only source of the leak.

My son mainly uses the car 10 miles each way to/from work, with the odd weekend road trip. I've put-up with the oil leaks for nearly 3 years but, it is destroying the driveway.

Thanks

Bob
PS: likely reason seals are blown is just old and/or I waited too long to service the PCV system (resulting in crankcase pressure from blowby)

Update: upon inspection, I noticed the oil seal on the right output shaft of the angle bevel gear was quite wet. I then pulled the fill plug on the angle bevel gear and, using a piece of wire as a dipstick, tested up to 1 1/4" below the fill plug and came up dry. Not good. So, I strongly suspect I have a leak there too. Any idea on cost to replace the oil seal on the angle bevel gear? Does the ABG have to come out of the car or can they do this in-place?

Bob
