dim headlights
Hi
I own two Volvos, one is a Volvo 2010 XC70 and one is a 2012 XC70, both of them have very dim headlights to the point where I have to put it on the high beams at night. My lease is up for 2010 and I am having second thoughts on getting another Volvo. The question is, is there a bulb that is brighter than the standard halogen bulb that will work on the 2012 and the 2014 XC70 that I would like to lease?

Cheap, lasts and bright.
Also, check headlights height adjustment, too low and you don't see the road ahead.

Ive owned my 2002 V40 for 2 weeks short of 2 years and was shocked at how poor the headlights were on unlit roads at night when i got the vehicle.
(They were the worst lights of any vehicle I had previously owned)
At 100kms/hour or 60mph one was often almost outdriving the lights which is disconcerting and makes night driving tiring and a lot less pleasant.
I removed the original Philips !2V 55W H7 bulbs (when one 1 bulb blew out) and replaced them all with what were called 'super whites' of the same rating.
These were cheap, manuf' in China ($14.00 a pair) so as a simple experiment I considered it worth a try.
These improved the vision quite a bit and are now about a year old which for Volvo's is apparently commonly about a normal life span?
Super Whites of 12V 55W. Not OEM however. ex China. 'JIANG CHI'. $14.00 a pair. ISO 9001 - 2000.
Whilst an improvement (worth the modest cost) I still personally feel that Volvo factory standard Halogen headlights are generally poor performing overall and its no surprise that many modify to HID's.
Higher wattage bulbs can be blinding to oncoming traffic and are illegal modifications in some countries. They also can overheat the light fittings, melting the connectors or the reflectors.
