Default Electric cooler and heater box

Has anyone had experience with the referenced Volvo accessory! I used to have a 12 volt portable refrigerator that I plugged into an outlet in the rear of our GMC Suburban. I believe it was made by Norcold. We thoroughly enjoyed using it for camping and, when we had electricity available, we sat it outside the car on a low fold-up trailer step. I know, from the photos, that this is a much smaller unit, however we're just hoping to keep drinks and food cool between overnight hotel stops. Is it worth considering?

I have never used one but did look into them. There can be bought all over, not as a Volvo branded accessory of course but the same kind of unit. The problem that I found when I researched them is that they are not full refrigerators or heating units. They are electronic units that have the ability to change the temp about 20 degrees hot or cold. To me this limits their usefulness.

Wow - that's not very effective at all! I would doubt you could safely keep anything that contained mayonnaise or the like. I would have hoped for a minimum low temp of 38 to 40 deg F with an ambient of 78 deg F.

I keep forgetting I am in Celsius. So the 20 degrees difference is in C not F. So in F that would be about 68 degrees F. So an in car temp of 78 it would do a good job but a car sitting in hotter temps (sunny day with in car going over 100 F) the cooler would struggle. Then you also need a constant power supply which you may not get with the ignition off.

My apologies for being a misleading.
