hello and a quick question
I just bought a used Volvo it's a 2007 xc70 81,000 miles for 12,000.00. What type of fuel do I use in it? one spot says 91 octane another says 87 is ok what should I use. Anything I special I should be looking for in this used car?
you can use grade 87 but for better engine performance use 91. volvo engines are mostly built for better performance and higher octane is recommended but l think, if your pocket doesnt allow for 91 then use 89 but there would be a reduction in performance. l dont use less than 89.because l feel my engine would be in its top shape using higher octane.
The car was engineered to run on 91+ octane fuel. The law requires that all US cars be able to run on 87 octane. So, if you run the car on 87 octane, it will run but will need the KNOCK sensor system to run smoothly and avoid internal engine damaging knock. So, my questions was, do you want to run the fuel the car was designed to function best on or do you want to use what the minimum requirement is?
