I bought XC 70 a couple of weeks ago and get the extra key from eBay. when I brought that key to the dealer, they told me they need a pin code for the remote key. I do not have a pin code! Any similar experience? Thanks

 

To make a new remote work (in your year range 01-07) There is a code on the bag/package that the remote comes in. You MUST have that code during the download process to be able to tell the car to accept the signal from the new remote.

The "key" and I trust you are talking about a switchblade key - the key with a different download can be "programmed" into the CEM to be accepted by the immobilizer.

This is why it is almost pointless ( and a waste of your hard earned money) to buy this crap from Ebay.

 

People will try anything to save a few bucks.
