Default New to me 04 XC70

Just brought home the XC70 yesterday from southern VA after a 14 hr 846 mi drive to MI. It has 110k miles. Maroon red. I got it from a kin for a pretty good deal. I figure if it got me home after 846 miles without any problem it should be good. And it did. I got it so I could use it to tow my drift boat. About 1000 lbs which is within its 3400-lb towing capacity. So, I will have to add a hitch to it. Have to decide whether to use OEM or aftermarket.

Not sure what the XC70 trim levels are but this baby seems like its got everything. I knew before hand that the power part of passenger door lock is not working. There's a whirring sound when trying to lock it with the FOB or the door lock switch. But it can still be locked/unlocked manually. From what I have read it may be the lock actuator. I find this funny bc I've owned a few Toyotas and Hondas and never had any such issues. My other 2 cars are Honda Accords.

Could it be just a bad linkage or is it pretty much the actuator?

Also, probably because of the more sunny weather in S VA some of the rubber trims around the pillar and windshield are a bit cracked. Am checking with the dealer tomorrow if they can be replaced.

Voldog! I'm new like you, but I can give you my 2 cents: OEMs are expensive. The hitch is external add on parts, so you don't need OEM, I saw on eBay some of them are @ $100+ and the wiring harness also cheaper and it plug and play no need to program from dealer.
For the door locks: one out of four not work it must be the local linkage or actuator, remove the door panel check the wiring and plugs and actuator at the door

It sounds like what Chrysler actuators do. just buzz a lot and nothing. It was always replace the actuator but I worked at the dealer at the time, there might be better solutions.
