Opinion of XC70 T6 to replace SUV
Hi all! I currently have a 2005 Land Rover Lr3 and it has done great for me. I know that some day either through an accident or just wanting something new I will have to replace her. I am currently looking at the XC70 T6 as the replacement vehicle and would like to know some opinions or experiences with the XC70 on two tracks, snow, mud, or some terrian more adverterous!
Thanks!
Thanks!
I have 2 XC70 AWD wagons. Others will comment on the newer 2008-13 next generation model. When researching the model by years, I went with the T5 engine, vs T6. The five cylinder engine has been produced & enhanced for years & the latter 2005-07 era seems to have worked out most of the issues in the earlier 1998-2004 versions. On highway excursions, mine are super comfortable to sit for hours, get 28MPH Highway (18MPH City), using the cruise control, handle extremely well & are a absolute pleasure to drive. Plus, all the extra room for passengers or, in my case, cargo. Having done my own mechanical repairs for years, my favorite model/year will always be the RWD 1994-95 940T wagons. Easiest to repair & maintain on the road. The newer XC70 models have the luxurious interior, sleeker design, more modern accessories, but are considerably heavier weighted vehicles. From own repairs, the T6 engine models have more cylinders & thus more internal components, which increases the propensity for additional parts to fail. I've already repaired two of the most common, inherent failures on this series; instrument cluster circuit board fault & ignition switch assembly-key won't turn failure. The ignition key issue, appears inherent to all 1999-onward models with the security chip entry/start system. I believe both of these should have been service recalls, but weren't addressed by Volvo.
