Default Rear Propeller shaft problem

I have a 2009 Volvo XC70 with 215,000 miles, the shop has told me that the propeller shaft is bad and they want $2000.00 to put a new shaft. I do not want to put $2000.00 in the car but it is a nice well cared for car. Does anyone know of a shop that can rebuild my propeller shaft.
Even with the mile this is the best car I have ever owned, any help would be apricated.

Just have the driveshaft removed for a couple of hours labor. Of course you will then have a FWD car, but it primarily is anyway, until the front wheels slip. If you hate the way it drives - then put a new/remanufactured one back in. Many times I have removed xc driveshafts for customers at their request - when the cost was not in their budget for replacement.
