Default Rear suspension

I have a standard 2007 model XC 70 with no additional self-leveling in the back. I recently broke a coil spring which I know is unusual. The car has been temperamental but I do like it it has 153,000 miles and I am the second owner. I want to do a complete job on the rear suspension when my mechanic replaces the spring. I would appreciate any suggestions as to what other fans of the XC 70 would do.

Second question is there doesn't seem to be any manufacturer produces a combination spring and stretch for this car. If anyone has comments regarding this it would also be appreciated

@ 153,000 miles I would definitely redo the entire shock assembles on both sides. sure you could reuse the coil spring that isn't broke, but it will take at least a year of driving for the new spring to match the reused unbroken coil springs ride height. the only part that really never needs replacing are the coil spring anchors as long as the (support plates or spring seats) haven't grinned into them. my basic maintenance for my 07 xc70 with 560,000 miles calls for new rear shocks, spring seats, bump stops, and anchor caps every 75,000 miles, then every other 75,000 miles, I replace everything. Why? doing it that way, has saved me from having to do the more costly rear suspension bushings less often. always remember this, good working springs, shocks and struts, protect other key steering and suspension items from failing. think of it this way... just a broken coil spring can ruin a drive haft, wheel hub, ball joint, control arm, motor mounts, etc, etc... and that simply because a broken coil spring can no longer transfer and isolate extreme road shock to just the strut or shock and coil spring, thus passing it on to all the other suspension and steering components... any way, here is my every 150,000 miles standard rear suspension replacement list.

If you shop around, you can find everything below in OE/OEM for around 420.00, but believe it or not, some items below, like nuts and bolt are cheaper at tasca...

02 X Rear Lower Shock Mount Bolt - Volvo (989035)
02 X Rear Shock Absorber - 2007 Volvo XC70 (30760056)
02 X Rear Bumper Stop - 2007 Volvo XC70 (9157115)

02 X Rear Upper Shock Absorber Lock Nut - 2007 Volvo XC70 (985909)
02 x Rear Stabilizer Link - 2007 Volvo XC70 (31201603)
02 x Rear Upper Spring Seat - 2007 Volvo XC70 (8646802)
02 X Rear Upper Shock Absorber Support Plate - 2007 Volvo XC70 (8646101)
04 X Rear Upper Shock Absorber Anchorage Mount Bolt - Volvo (985362)
01 X Rear Upper Anchorage Cap - 2007 Volvo XC70 (right = 8646092)
01 X Rear Upper Anchorage Cap - 2007 Volvo XC70 (left = 8646091)
14 X Rear Upper (Anchorage Cap and Bracket) Mount Bolt - 2007 Volvo XC70 (985187)
06 X Rear Upper Anchorage Cap Mount Washer - Volvo (31262054)
01 X Rear Upper Mount Bracket - 2007 Volvo XC70 (right = 8634327)
01 X Rear Upper Mount Bracket - 2007 Volvo XC70 (left = 8634326)
08 X Rear Upper Mount Bracket Lock Nut - Volvo (985907)

Edit.....

i wanted to add this note...

if you live in a area that has bumpy roads or do some back country driving go with "Lesjofors Coils" in the rear over the "Suplex Coils", as they are more forgiving in the return response department, (ie; using them will give added isolating protection to your other rear suspension bushing components), but always use the stiffer "Suplex Coils" in the front as your steering will suffer if you don't.

F!

Default New Single piece shocks and struts for my 2007 XC 70

1aauto.com saved me. They now have quick shocks complete with spring for front and back. Amazing thing is I sent them an email two weeks ago on their website and asked if they stocked this product. They followed up with me to let me know a limited amount was in stock. This brought the cost of rebuilding the rear suspension of my 2007 Volvo XC 70 from $1600 to $600. The shocks have not arrived yet but I will update when they do. I feel very good about this company. I especially thank the individual who posted all of the individual Volvo parts that I would need. I did have these parts quoted through the dealer and they were amazed at the accuracy of this information.
For all of you Volvo enthusiast, I can tell you that I was without my car for two weeks and I got into it to drive it from the repair shop. Even with the rear spring problem I could not believe how no other new car I drove could compare to this machine. I salute all of you who have a passion for this engineering and I hope we continue to run these cars to 300,000 and points beyond

I buy as many parts as possible at FCP Euro. They all have a lifetime warranty and are usually the best price. Otherwise I go to IPD.

They don't carry a lot of P3 parts for my 2008 XC70 for some reason, but they seem to love P2 parts so you should find some great deals.

Both company have had good YouTube videos.
