trailer tow hitch
I'm having a hard time finding a class two/three 2 inch receiver tow hitch. What is available is the 11/4 inch receiver hitch. I own a 17 foot Boston Whaler Montauk and in the past I've towed it with my jeep and also a pickup truck.Today I just have the 06 Volvo XC70 and i realize that it's not the best vehicle forting my boat. LatelyI've been using my brother's Forester to tow the boat to Buzzards Bay for striped bass fly fishing. Yet, I'd rather tow the boat with my own vehicle.
So if you've installed a class three tow hitch to your Volvo Xc70 please let me know specifically what you installed. Thanks

I just did a hitch for my wife's Highlander and I used etrailer.com. They have the big name brands (Curt and Drawtite) and all the add ons (wiring harnesses, ***** etc). Looks like an easy install and you'll be out the door for about $200. They have good content and documentation to boot.

If the available hitches with 1.5 inch receiver meet the tongue and trailer weight ratings of the boat and the car I fail to see the issue. A quick search shows that they seem to be at 350 pound tongue and 3500 pound total trailer weight.
As far as I know this is the trailer weight limit of the car.If your boat is heavier than the 3500 pound limit then you need a different tow vehicle.
