Transmission fluid: Should I change it or not?
I am currently driving a 3.2L 2010 Volvo XC70 with 150,000 miles that I got as a salvaged title. I was unaware that transmission had to be changed, as when I researched my car upon buying it I read many articles saying it did not have to be touched, or it had to be brought in to be serviced. Recently I've been having some issues with the transmission (hard shifts, trouble shifting into gears, etc), and I thought that one reason for this could be old or low transmission fluid. However, as I was looking into how to do a transmission fluid change/flush on my car I've seen that some individuals are advising that if you have high mileage to just leave the transmission fluid and hope for the best? I am looking into possibly getting a hold of service records on my car, but I'm unsure if the previous owner has been keeping up with changing the transmission fluid. Is there a way to check if it's been done without doing a full transmission flush? And would doing a transmission fluid change damage my car with the mileage that I currently have? Any advice would be very helpful, thank you!
I got the car with 152,114 miles, I've driven it for a little under a year, and I'm currently at 157,548 miles if that's helpful at all!

A simple drain and refill will let you examine what's in there. You're not changing all the fluid that way. Transmission fluid can last forever - at least until the transmission is bad! Make sure you use the specified fluid. Drain it into a clear plastic container, makes it easy to examine and measure how much you take out.

You will only get about 1/2 of the fluid out with a drain. The rest of the fluid is in the converter and passageways in the trans. So yes drain all the fluid you can. Measure it so you have an idea how much to put back in.
