Hey all!

I bought a 1971 144S about a month ago. Love it. It runs nicely and I'm doing some minor cosmetic repairs.

Recently the temp gauge stated running high. I'm not sure what's causing this. The interesting thing is that the gauge will read a higher temperature when the headlights are on. When I pop the headlights off it goes down to almost the half way point. At worst, when the headlights are on, the needle its around the boundary between green and red.

I think the first thing to do is to change out the thermostat (and gasket) since it is a simple fix. The problem is I'm not sure which gasket to buy. There are a number of compatible ones to choose from.

Any insight?
