1985 volvo 244gl. Need help identifying possible mount found on ground under car!
**edit: mystery solved. It's a mount from my transmission case to the exhaust Y-pipe. There were no bolts left sheered off in the casing, but a lot of trans fluid goo. My guess is my mounts are toast and they vibrated loose, or were never reinstalled with the new exhaust.**
Last night, I came back from a 208 mi round trip on a highway (about 75 mph). As I was pulling up to my house, I heard a metallic rattle from the front end. I panicked a bit, but it went away quickly.
I checked and changed my oil today, and found some carbon buildup at the bottom of the oil catcher. I figured that a good chunk of buildup must have been knocked loose.
However, I just went back out to the street where I park, and found the piece of metal pictured above laying where my car might have been parked last night.
I've driven the car a little today after the oil change, and have had no problems. Is this a 1985 volvo 244 part? Some kind of mount?
