Hi newbie here, I'm picking up an 86-87 (not sure which year) 740 GLE Thursday for $325. Plan on using it as a winter car. Car appears to be in pretty good shape besides the inside (desperately needs new front seats and a cleaning.) Will have more details later but....</P>


What are common problems with this model? Anything in particular to look out for?</P>


What kind of gas mileage can I expect during winter use?</P>

Yeah it is slow. Sometimes I think I'm the only one who answers. I think common weith any of the 740s is the fuel pump relay going. I have an 89 and a 90 and the relay has been replaced in my 89 already and there is a start problem developing in my 90. The 89 has 190000 and the 90 has 140000 so they do last.</P>


Oh, I get 20 to 25 miles per gallon in mine</P>
