Default Auto-transmission Problem

I own a year 92 940GL with auto ZF transmission that has peculiar problem. When started from cold, the transmission is reluctant to shift from the first gear. The second gear will only be engaged when the engine is sufficiently heated up. Even then, I would have to rev the engine up to 4.5 K rpm before the gear shift takes place. It was suggested that the problem might be the gear box filter. I had it replaced but the problem persists. What might the real problem be?

transmission filter change should do the trick. If the fluid level is correct then it is the filter

i had a similar problem, but it turned out that my kick-down cable was caught on a nut so it took a lot higher rpm to get the tranni to shift</P>

It may be the filter, you can get those from me, and some good synthetic ATF will make a world of difference

Let me know, I'll hook you up.
