I was very sad when Volvo decided to discontinue the XC70. It was truly my all time favorite vehicle for safety, cargo space and clearance. My specific 2015 seemed to have been built on the day everyone was feeling particularly on point. At 165,000 miles I have never had service beyone regular maintenance. It drives like a dream and allows me to feel super confident in snarly traffic.
When I hit over 150k miles I called my salesman and inquired as to what was new, thinking I should begin researching for the time I might want to buy something new.
The deal on the the 2020 V60 cross country with polestar was too good to pass on but the $7k trade in offer on my XC70 was not.
I kept my XC70 and stored the 2020 for the winter.
I admit the XC70 is stodgy looking compared to the V60 cross country but the cargo space in the V60 is so noticeably less that I find it frustrating. The same up front in the driver's area. Seriously, where do you put your tissues, maps, sunglass case, etc.??
Also, going from a V6 to a V4, even with the polestar is significantly noticeable. The V60 is nimble but the XC70 feels more solid and secure.
I'd love to go back to the XC70 and quite a few of my compatriots feel the same. In the meantime, can anyone offer me great suggestions as to how they've accomodated their necessities up front? Even the pockets are too short to keep important things contained.
I do quite a bit of long distance travel. For those that do the same, how do you keep your necessities nearby and handy? I'd love to know. Meanwhile, I keep my XC70 for the times the V60 just can't accomodate.
