Default CARPUTER IS IN

It's not a Volvo but I know there were a couple of you who wanted to see this. I just finished installing a tablet PC in my Cavalier. The main reason was to play Windows Media Player through my stereo system. MP3car forum has a Pioneer to PC interface that will allow me to control WMP as thow it were a 6 disk changer. Unfourtunaly, the IP-BUS port neccessary for that particular item has been corrupted somehow...so I'm stuck with the oldschool aux port function...oh well....sounds pretty sweet anyway.

I also got some diagnostic softwear for my car....

I've writen this whole thing up like six times now so I'll spare yall the text....check out my cardomain page to see it.

lol...thanks. Evidently, I still got a few bugs to work out. I was driving to work this morning, listening to WMP and I'm getting hard core alternator noise (i tested it with the engine off...lesson learned). It's really super knowing the alternatr works in tandem with the engine through the RPMs and stuff but I'd just as soon not have it compete over Rammstein. At first, I figured it was an install mistake...I ran the DC power line in tandem with the AC power line....but it's not. Bad power inverter, bad wire insulation, missing buffer capacitor on the alternator, evil crack induced knoms....I have no clue.

I have a ground loop....made only more frustrating by the fact that the right hand channel does not play through the CD changer controls on the back of my deck. (stupid Pioneer factory defect not covered by warrenty thing!). I was pissed unitl I found a brand new Pioneer DEH-P880RSP to throw in there. This baby has a dual 16 band internal graphic EQ.. I can control the right channel separate from teh left! AND i'll be able to get rid of that silly 12 band EQ i've got in there now!......and replace it with a DVD ROM! I'm a little excited

I also got a PC to Pioneer interface cable coming that'll trick the HU into thinking the PC is a CD changer....full control of 6 playlists in either MinAMP, WMP or I-tunes via the Pioneer remote control...quite excited about that. I also made a realization that with a Tablet PC comes the option of cigarette lighter adapters. I'm taking that silly power inverter out and hard wireing the Cig adapter to a full time power source....that stupid inverter is too loud and a pain in the ***. Also, i can send the PC into hibernation this way...no more OS loading, program loading or turning on and off.
