HU 655 Connections
Hi all,
I'd like to use the CD CHanger connection in my S40 for mp3 play. I tried the cassete gadget and also the FM one but both sound very bad.
As the radio has the CD changer option I was wondering if I could use the input and just use a cable to run the mp3.
I know there's a lot of very hi-tech solutions but I'd prefer a simple one and do it by myself for that I (think) only need the HU 655 rear CD Changer connection pinout.
Thanks

RE: HU 655 Connections
Check on swedespeed and volvospeed. There are several people doing this. I believe you can use the DIN connection for the CD Changer to run your iPod through your HU and actually control the iPod with it also (there are adapters you can buy for this). The complaints I have heard is that when you do this, you must create 6 playlists on your iPod to coincide with the 6-disc changer. Most people complain that it is a PITA and it severly restricts the iPods capabilities. There are some other solutions out there, but I believe they require more than just a simple plug and play connection. Since Idon't have an iPod, I have a Sandisk, I am limited to the aux in jack(which my HU-613 doesnt have) option. I am currently using a FMtransmitter that totally sucks. I will probably just buy a new HU that has an aux input on the front.

DIN to RCA
RCA to 3.5 headphone jack
Cheap sollution to an expensive problem that will probably leave you irretated you didn't just get a new HU with some kind of AUX input. There's NO guarante that this'll work well...or at all. Factory HU's are animals bound by a specific set of rules and don't often bend to the will of the aftermarket consumer. That's why OEM sollutions to the i-pod conundrum are so damn expensive....they're the only ones who know how to really make it work right and they know it.
