Hi Saluki, I am also in Kingston. I just paid over $650 for a Walker V70 muffler that doesn't look as nice as the Starla one on the FCP Groton site for US$250. The $650 did not include labour.

Are you aware of a garage that is a little less aggressive on price?

Hi Electric, I've had pretty good luck with Performance Imports on Division st. Fair priced, family owned, and very good at what they do. And they are two doors down from me so that's a plus

guys - it may be worth your while to simply buy online from IPDUSA FCP Groton, or TASCA (for OEM only) in the US and have them ship to a UPS store there for you to pick up. I've saved a fortune doing this even with the double taxing (NY and ON)!

Find a UPS store that offers the myusaddress service and you are charged $5 per package ($10 for larger packages) for receiving and storing, end of story.

The deals from Tasca motors for OEM Volvo parts are quite impressive. Less than half of what you would spend at dealership in Ontario. It's nuts.

Default 1998 v70 5 speed non turbo for sale

Hi There:

I'm in Weston Ontario and am selling my 98v70. It was a direct from Belgium import which I bought about 13 years ago.
I love this car, but my wife cannot drive it and I'm not able to work on it as much as I would like to due to a back injury.

I have roof racks and alloy wheels for the summer. It needs work, but I'd feel better if it ended up in the hands of a fellow Volvo nutter.

kms 285,000 has been krown rust control for about 7 years that I owned it, the body is solid, no accidents, or upsets.

If you are interested in more info, PM me or email; rubber2ice at yahoo dot ca

Thanks, Terry

Hey guys, I'm considering purchasing a new 2019 XC90 momentum or a used XC90 Inscription.

As the thread suggests I'm located in Ontario, I was wondering if anyone had insight on the types of discounts new model XC90 were receiving this year.

If anyone has some insight or could point me to some resources on the topic I would appreciate it!

Hey, multi Volvo owner here in Belleville, Ontario. Got a question for anyone near me. I don't have nav installed and want it. I also don't want to pay 1500.00 dollars at dealership (Kingston). Anyone know how?

Are you using a SIM card in the vehicle now (wifi connected)?

Not sure that it is a must have if you spend the money to have the Nav system installed, however, I expect it is.
I found it hard to get much info about the Nav system and what info I did get sounded somewhat uncertain. I planned to drive to FL in Jan and I waited till I got in the US to activate the SIM card (already in the 2018 XC 60). It is an AT&T card so I went to them. They weren’t too knowledgeable about set up etc. however, did get it completed. It allowed me to download Maps, a basic GPS platform. At that point I wasn’t really sure what I would end up with, however, was worth a try. It works quite well but don’t have all the bells and whistles that a Garmin or some of the other portable/dash mounted devices provide.
You can google Maps on any computer and use a very similar platform to have a look. In fact I planned the route to FL on a desktop using it.
The AT&T offered three gigs of data or 90 days free. Three gigs lasted just over 60 days. In fact it ran out on our way back to Can. The monthly fee for unlimited use is $23.US$. The advantage of having Wi Fi in the vehicle you can use a smart phone and google maps if the Maps platform isn’t detailed enough, i.e it don’t tell the distance to your destination, and it don’t give lane info like google maps does. It can be updated from the touchscreen in the vehicle and will notify you when there is one available. I wasn’t sure how AT&T would work in Atlantic Can. however, there are no issues. It works everywhere here.
I did check while in FL on the cost of having Volvo’s Nav system installed and I was quoted $1,400.00 US$. It sounded like they may never have installed it on a vehicle (didn’t know the price right away) and it was a large dealership.
The short answer to your que. is I don’t think there is any way to get the Volvo Nav without going through a dealer. I didn’t try to get the SIM card activated in Canada as it is next to impossible to get it for a vehicle as far as I can determine. I checked with Telus, my phone supplier and they had nothing as did Bell, plus I knew it would be much less expensive in the US. Having unlimited Wi Fi in the vehicle is pretty convenient for long trips, streaming movies, local news, Tunein etc. We managed fine with the Maps platform and the phone from time to time.
The port for the SIM card is located below the glove box (a small plastic cover) and just below the top of the carpet. I think I did see that it is located back near/where the spare tire is situated in older models. Your owners manual should clarify. My apologies for the long winded answer.

Wilf
