90 780 Bertone Engine?
Can anyone point me in the direction of a source for engines for these cars? 2.3 Turbo. 220,xxx miles. This one I suspect has a head gasket blown, or even worse a cracked block or head damage. It runs great, dont have water in the oil or oil in the water, and is no fog machine from the exhaust. This car belongs to my father in law, and he has had it for several years and has sunk alot of money into it. He recently drove it with a coolant leak and did not know it until it overheated. He towed it to a garage and was told that pressure from the combustion is building up and pushing coolant into the overflow tank. The mechanic told him he should just bring him the title in exhange for work done. He paid him for his work, and towed it to my house. My past experience with a blown head gasket was oil and water mixing, along with overheating and thick smoke from the exhaust. This is a pretty solid car, with very very little rust, which is common on most midwest cars. Im trying to get a worst case scenario for him, like block damage. Maybe a headgasket set would fix it, and the repair would be easy on the pocket book, even after sending the head in for work. If it is too much to fix, it appears I will inherit it. Not sure if parting it out would be best, rather than sending it across the scales for scrap. Any suggestions, or anyone needing parts?

The B230FT is the same engine in all 700 and 900 series so there should be used ones available. They run up to 1995 in the 940 Turbo. Best to get 1993 or newer because they have additional oil ports so lower development of "piston slap."
I'm interested if you part it out. Mechanical parts are same for most Volvos of the era. Body parts are unique to the 780.
