i did a search and can see that the glt and the t-5 are just high and low pressur turbo's... does that mean that if you have either car, they will be the same after a chip since both will be at high boost? or are they accually "different" turbos? do they both have the same internals, fuel, etc...?
The GLT is a low pressure turbo, meaning it has a smaller turbo. Something like a 13g. The T-5 is a high pressure turbo, meaning it has a larger turbo like a 15g.

The GLT will come close to a stock T-5 with a chip. The T-5 will be upped more to like 17PSI or so. If you get a GLT please don't run more then 15PSI on your chip, be safe and run 12PSI. I love my 12PSI chip from SpeedTuning USA.

i saw somewhere that a stock s70 t-5 got a 14.7 in the 1/4 (manual of course), just wondering what it gets after dp, exhaust, and chip - estimating like 300 crank hp... is that getting into the high 13's?
I don't know what times it will get. But if a stock T-5 S70 can do that, with a dp, catback and chip I would say 14.0 possibly down in the high 13's like 13.9 maybe 13.8.

But you will want to perform STAGE 0 nonetheless on whatever car you get, to get it back to stock like performance. Then you can upgrade. For the STAGE 0 info go to Volvospeed and go to the PERFORMANCE section in the PINNED threads.

ok, so if you had a t-5 and put a 15g turbo on it, it would be the exact same engine? do they have same fuel, internals, and everything? I will do stage 0 on whatever car i get... i just want to know if the only difference between the two is the turbo, thanks

The T-5 has a 15g I am pretty sure since the T-5 is the HPT engine. If you put a 15g on an LPT engine and tuned it right with chip, dp, exhaust it would be like a T-5 maybe a little better. But if you got a T-5 you can get a bigger turbo then the 15g and slap it on there like a 16t, 18t, 19t. Would be bad ass.

I am pretty sure the compression ratios are a little different. Tech should come in here and help out as well.

do people use boost controllers after getting a chip so they can run stock boost and high (chipped) boost? Cause i saw on volvospeed forums that a lot of people had boost controllers in their sig.

Don't use a MBC, worthless, and not good for the car.

so everyone has it set at high boost all the time? what about running at the track, seems like you would want lower boost in 1st and maybe 2nd gear due to traction. My friend has an eclipse and if it is in high boost in 1st he just spins, so he flicks the switch after he changes to 2nd. I know your not suppost to use boost controller to up the boost, but what about lower it? cause 350-400whp would have trouble with traction in 1st and 2nd gear it seems
