Hi all
picked up my first volvo for a project with my buddy, we got a 2006 xc70 with 170,000km for $500!
Motor is knocking

So we dropped the pan and found #2 con rod bearing was BAD!! almost gone.. a sliver of bearing left

we put a blow gun in the oil feed hole and no air came from that oil gallery




. That would explain the toasted bearing!

We cannot get whatever is in the crank gallery out but it does move around, for instance it will plug off different oil galleries depending on how we are blowing air in the crank,

tried sticking mechanic wire into the holes but cant feel anything! Any ideas would be appreciated or a diagram of the oil galleries on an xc70 crank?

we bought new con rod bearings, polished out the crank jounal and would like to give this engine one last shot at life before we toss it!

Also found a small square translucent gasket that fell from the engine while using air gun.. anyone know what that could be??
