I have a 2005 Volvo XC 90 V8 with 105,000 miles. It has recently started shifting hard most noticeable 1-2 gear and 2-3 gear in Drive or using the shiftmattic feature under light to moderate acceleration. It does it on the downshift as well and has "clunked" into 1'st gear, really scaring me that I just dropped my transmission. Here is the kicker: it almost never does it immediately and you generally have to drive it for awhile around town before it does it. But if you stop and turn the car off it resets itself and then will drive normal again.... For a while at least before it does it again! Any advice? What is the most likely problem?

 

The check engine light is not on but when I had a diagnostics pulled these codes were stored in its memory: P0744 TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID AND P0895 SHIFT TIME TOO SHORT
