A little over a week ago, I noticed that my gear shift in my V70xc had shifted from automatic into manual without me moving it over. It usually requires a concerted effort to do this, but now if i hit a pot hole or even a bump in the road, my car will switch over to manual. I assume this is damaging my transmission. Has anyone else had problems like this or any clue what I would need to do to fix it?

 

The same thing happened on my '01 V70 T5 a few years ago although mine takes a bit of a bump to knock it into manual. I've just lived with it, but when I removed the driver's side kick panel a couple of days ago a broken piece of a plastic part fell out from the shifter area. I'm sure this is the culprit. Can anyone help identify what part this belongs to, or have a part drawing of the shift mechanism to figure out what I need to replace?
