What kind of antifreeze should i use in my 2004 volvo s80? Do i have to use volvo brand..

 

the dealership recommends using volvo brand but anyone should do the trick

 

Either the recommended Volvo antifreeze or something that's labeled "all makes, all models". There is still stuff out there that shouldn't be used in newer vehicles ("the green stuff") and the dreaded "Dex-cool" (orange) that as far as I'm concerned should never have been invented.
Volvo doesn't have just one kind of antifreeze either. I think theirs is made by Pentosin and is Pentofrost.

You can't go by color. The Volvo stuff used to be green and then about 8 years ago, they changed it to blue. No difference on the content, just the color. Not sure who makes it, though.
