v50 Audio
I recently bought my 4th V---V50-2005. It is not equipped with an Auxilliary input port. I went to an auto electronics store and came out with a 600$ estimate. He told me the radio is operated at some level with Optical connections. When I got the car it was kaput on the radio SISPLAY. The radio played all bands. You just couldn't "see" what was going on. I found one on EBAY (from Canada) and put it in. The display worked fine. The radio wouldn't play. I tried every combination to ensure it would not work. it doesn't.
Also, the CD player and amplifier section does not accept cd's, at least most of the time. Sometimes it will take one and it will not play. it might if I could see the display.
As I was further researching the availability of US compatible display and CD/amps on the web, i read something about maybe needing to "reprogram" the system for it to work. Does anyone have any guidance? I suspect the piece from Canada is OK but needs reprogramming to match up to my car.
Thanks and I am glad to be part of the community. I love the car. It's a 5cyl 225hp version and it is perfect for me. I had a C30 that I wish I had kept but the V50 is better because I am a slob and need the extra space of the V50
