Just bought a 2004 XC70. You know how rumors go.....but after owning my V70 to 323,000 miles and never having a transmission issue, I want to ask about something I heard.

Someone mentioned that '04 XC70's are notorious for having the transmission slip between 2nd and 3rd gear. I have never heard that. Wondering if that is an issue people have when they don't understand the relationship between proper tires and AWD??

 

Some have problems, some don't. Of course, you only hear about the problems. I have plenty of customers with 01-04s with plenty of miles on the original trans and no issues.

 

the 2-3 shift problems mostly for 01-03 P2 model. with 04 they have a different tranny, so u should be good.
