Default 2006 volvo s40 no start

I have a 2006 s40 nonturbo car. It has 81000 miles. I have had my fair share of issues with it but until now, I have been able to solve the problems.

I went to start it one morning and it cranked and went to high idle rpm, about the time it would normally drop in rpm, it died. It would try to start but i could not get it to run.

Code p0339 came up with intermittant voltage circuit a on the crankshaft position sensor. I tried 2 new sensors with no luck. I can disconnect the map sensor and it will fire and run for about 6 seconds then die, antiskid light on dash comes on. It appears to have fuel, plenty spraying out of end of rail when attempting to crank. I also have replaced the map sensor and still no luck. It has been a Georgia car all of its life so I discounted the fuel control problem up north. Any ideas on what to check?

so far i have replace the rear axle bearing at 74000, alternator at 79000, Mass airflow sensor at 75000, the 5 disc cd player quit when the alternator went out, the airconditioning clutch quit at 72000 and the oil filter housing/trap was replaced around 70000. Nothing but problems recently.

Please Help!!

Default 2006 volvo s40 no start possibly problem possibly solved

After spending quite a few hours trying to solve the no start issue on my Volvo, I came across the apparent problem.

I noticed that the serpentine belt had a frayed side and then realized that the idler pulley had gone bad. I decided to pull up on the timing belt and then it became apparent that the engine has jumped time.

This whole problem started one morning when I first started the car. It went to high idle then as it was dropping down, it quit. It would try to start but no luck. Then the crankshaft postion sensor code came up. So hopefully it hasnt done any damage to the valves an only one or two teeth off.

Can you be off by a couple of teeth without causing damage to the valves?
