Okay…I am thoroughly confused now and I need immediate advice. Over the weekend I purchased a set of 18" RSL Mase Wheelz with a 42mm offset. http://www.rslwheels.com/wheels/?sfID1=12&sfID2=220 . These are the wheels that I bought. Now I have a 06 Volvo s40 2.4i that I am planning to mount these on over this coming weekend. The tires I am looking to purchase will be size 225/40r18s. I am not worried about the diameter clearance because it is not differenct at all, however I am worried about going from a 205 tire width to a 225 tire width. Does anyone have experience with this size tire? Do you forsee a problem with this? The wheels have been ordered and are on the way, however I have not bought the tires yet and wanted to make sure before purchasing. The guy at tire rack said that I would want to make sure that this will clear so I wanted to check with you guys. Let me know as soon as possible.

If these will fit, what size spacers do I need if any so that they will line up properly?

I haven't run across any of the new cars with 18's yet.
I am really not sure if they will fit or not.

205's are 8 inches wide.225's are 8.9 inches wide. If you have 1/2 inch clearence between your current tire and shock tower /inner fender well they will probably fit. If not, rub city. BJ

 

I mounted them up...no rubbing, but I did not have a centering/hub centric ring for these wheels. Do you know what size the 2006 s40 takes...or what size these rsl mase wheels take so I can order them?

 

Sorry I dont. I have a 1st gen S40 with Enki's and they came with the proper centering ring when I bought them. BJ

 

I am looking for a set of wheels for my volvo s40 2006 2.4. I was thinking to buy the original Volvo Medusa wheels 7.5 x 18" with tires 235/40/R18.I understood that (from this post) that these tires fit well. But I want to be sure, becuase I don't haveall the wheel valuesi.e Bolt Pattern, Offset Range, Wheel Size Range, etc...

Volvo dealer recommends 215/45/R18 but I want something a little bit bigger. Any comments? Have you tried a bigger size without rubbing the inner fender.

I have a 225/45/17 on my S60. I would not go as wide as the 235, as you'll probably have rubbing at that width. Split the difference and go with a 225/45/18. You should be OK at that width.
