Default 2009 XC90 - Need a good Mechanic - Markham

My wife drives a 2009 XC90 with apprtox 170klm on it. I think the transmission is slipping (can hear and feel a 'thunk' when let off the gas) and there are other minor issues that comes with advance miliage. I feel like I'm being raped every time we take it to the dealer on Steeles (engine service light came on 2 blocks after we left a servicing appointment once).

Can anyone recommend a good (trustworthy) shop that I can develop a relationship with? (car will probably be passed on to our teenage kids. .

Appreciate your input

Can't help you with a local referral but on your issue, transmission slippage is going to be more of "motor boating" where the engine can change RPMs without the corresponding road speed change. Your description sounds like you have a motor or transmission mount or an axle or driveshaft center bearing acting up. Good news is most shops can diagnose those kinds of issues. You may also want to consider a transmission fluid change to help soften any hard shifting.
