Hello, I'm new to posting here. Previously owned an 03 C70 for 6 years.
Looking at buying another one a 2011 C70, but it has a MANUF buyback title due to problems with the top. Apparently Volvo fixed top problems during buyback. Currently private party sale & car has 40k miles, asking is $20,000.
Familiar with salvage titles & I stay away from them. Wondering if could be getting into similar trouble with this one also. Any advice from you more experienced Volvoites out there? Also, $20,000 seems high to me for a car that does not have a clean title. Appreciate your ideas/advice.

Hmm... it doesn't show anything about a buyback, but I'm not sure if it would. They did have some issues with the top. This is what was done:

8/10/2011- One of the hydraulic rams for the top was replaced and the Convertible Roof Module software was updated.

1/19/2012- The hydraulic pump for the top was replaced after consulting with Volvo Technical Hotline

6/14/2012- Replaced the front roof locks and adjusted lock rods per THL.

When the hardtop C70 first came out, Volvo didn't really want us messing with the tops too much. If there was a major issue, they wanted the car so they could fix any bugs. So if it was a 2009 that got bought back, I wouldn't have any worries about it. I'm not sure why they bought this one back.

I would definitely make sure the top works before buying it though.
