2016 v60xc t5 possible timing skip
Hey guys, I have a 2016 v60 xc with 64k on it. Was driving and my serp belt tore and made a slapping noise. Immediately lost engine power and pulled over. Opened the hood and saw about a 8inch “whip” of the serp belt hanging. From taking with a couple friends the consensus is that a piece of the belt may have gotten into the timming belt and may have skipped. Car won’t start. Try’s to turn over but nothing. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated
What engine? 2016 T5 4cyl or 2015.5 T5 5 cyl?
Unfortunately what you described happens too frequently on some Volvos. Belt fails, get caught in timing belt, causing bent valves. A simple valve job with all new valves fixes it - to the cost of several/many thousand dollars retail.
Does the engine sound like it is spinning over faster/higher pitched when you try to start it ( with no compression the engine spins faster)
Sorry for your troubles.

It does sound like it’s spinning faster. My buddy came over and took the oil cap off and I tried to start it and he said it seems like no compression. Pretty bummed seeing the car only has 64k on it and the extended warranty just passed 3 months ago
