2016 v60 xc t5 engine quit
Hey guys, I have a 2016 v60 xc with 64k on it. Was driving and my serp belt tore and made a slapping noise. Immediately lost engine power and pulled over. Opened the hood and saw about a 8inch “whip” of the serp belt hanging. From taking with a couple friends the consensus is that a piece of the belt may have gotten into the timming belt and may have skipped. Car won’t start. Try’s to turn over but nothing. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated
you can visually check timing marks on the crank pulley and the timing cover for cam gears or you can do a quick compression check. If you have slightly low compression (say 60-100 PSI) your timing may be off. if you have no or very low compression you probably have bent exhaust values (an inspection cam will show this as well). Also scan for codes. you may have a code that indicates a retarded cam timing issue etc.
